Cowboys rookie Cooper Beebe points out two of his nastiest career highlights
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

One of the fan and media favorite selections of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2024 NFL Draft was that of interior offensive lineman Cooper Beebe. Primarily a left guard at Kansas State, Beebe is expected to fight for the starting role at center following the loss of Tyler Biadasz in free agency.

Although his upside is somewhat limited with short arms and some athleticism questions, Beebe is a plug-and-play starter at the NFL level thanks to his power and technique.

But there's no question his calling card remains his "nasty" style of play, which is the word he used last Friday when he was selected by the Cowboys in the third round. Since then, he recently claimed he's the "dude that tries to 'dirt' people anytime I can."

Asked about his best dirt stories, Beebe provided two examples from his 2023 season that perfectly illustrate the type of player the Cowboys are getting.

"I think my best one is when I 'dirted' the kid from Houston," Beebe said via Cowboys team writer Patrik Walker. "When I pulled out on the edge and I made his feet go above his head, I think it's probably the best 'dirt' story."

The play, which you can see below, shows Kansas State running a pill and pull concept, with Beebe pulling to the edge and working up to the crashing safety, whom he violently buries to help his running back reach the end zone.

Beebe's power and overall nastiness as a blocker shows up in just about every game you watch from him, including against Kansas, as he points out an additional "dirt moment" of his career:

"I have one against Kansas where I put the linebacker into the ground and got up to the safety. Those are kind of two dirt moments that come to mind."

The play above shows Beebe gaining speed as he reaches the second level unblocked and he gets to send the linebacker into the ground in bully fashion. That might not even be the most impressive part of the play though. Rather the fact that he doesn't lose balance and gets in position to block the backside safety to allow his running back to explode for an additional 20+ yards.

If Cowboys fans wanted a couple of plays to get excited about who they're getting in Beebe, who also happens to have excelled in pass pro against this year's top defender in the NFL Draft, these should do the trick.
