William Byron makes contact with the wall during qualifying at Kansas Speedway

The Hendrick Motorsports cars were solid in practice. Going into qualifying, I think they were hoping to have a few drivers in that top-10 group. Ideally, HMS would go for all four teams in the final round, that’s the expectation.

This has been a great season for William Byron. Last week at Dover, Byron finished P33 after getting into that wreck with Bubba Wallace and Christopher Bell. Before that, he had five straight top-10 finishes, including two wins.

The last time Byron finished worse than P30 he turned around and won the next race. So, keep your eyes on that 24 car to move up throughout the day on Sunday.

William Byron continuing to have success

Outside of last week, Bristol, and this qualifying session, William Byron has been locked in. There are hiccups every now and again. You can’t avoid getting into a random wreck if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. At times, you’re going to go up the track and tap the wall.

The 24 team is going to get everything together and set back up on this car. Byron is able ot take these Hendrick cars and put them up front even when he doesn’t have the best starting position.

In these situations, you can’t get too down on yourself. Drivers have to stay positive and trust that their teams are going to get them back to where they need to be. Byron has a great team and a great crew chief in Rudy Fugle.

William Byron had a bit of trouble in qualifying but should be fine. They won’t have to go to a backup or anything and should just have to repair the wrap. Could he shock everyone and drive this 24 car to the lead on Sunday?
